Hello everyone!
Yulia Stativa is sharing with you a tutorial on making a mixed-media notebook cover.
As the base for the cover, I used a fabric bought at the second hand.
First, I soaked it in a solution with a mix of different paint colors to achieve the desired color. On top, I sprinkled it with a little dry Magic paint of "Olive" color and interesting multi-colored specks appeared on the fabric.
I let the fabric dry out naturally without ironing.
But I saw that the paint was not well absorbed on the polyester, so I decided to go over the top with shabby velour "Khaki" paint. This is a paint with micro particles that adds more texture and volume. And I sprinkled a little dry paint again.
Then I applied the pattern through the stencil. I mixed the paints again to get the right colors. For example, you can mix shabby velour "Khaki" and acrylic paint "Forest green", or instead of acrylic it is great to take a little dry magic paint "Emerald green". In some places, the color "Khaki" went over the top, getting interesting color transitions on the pattern.
I applied the paint with a palette knife and "smudged" it in some places, making soft transitions from the pattern to the fabric. I added another color of shabby velour by mixing the colors (I got dark brown).
At the end, a brush with soaked acrylic paint was applied along the edges and on top. The paint spread over the cover, creating a new layer of the background.
